Setup Instructions
1. Unit Assembly
Putting together Scott Aerator Fountains usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Instructions are included. The package contains:
- Pump with attached power cable
- Square float platform
- Protective stainless steel filter
- Decorative nozzle (not with DA-20 model)
- 5/16"x2" stainless steel bolts
- Stainless steel nuts and washers
- Self-tapping stainless steel screws
Tools Needed: A wrench (or socket driver) and pliers.
Assembly Steps:
- Place the fountain housing on a stable surface with the pump discharge facing up.
- Attach nylon rope (not included) to the stainless steel eyebolts for anchoring.
- Position the float and secure it using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts.
- Turn the fountain upside down, remove the Styrofoam doughnut, and install the stainless steel filter, lining up the pre-drilled holes. Secure the filter with the self-tapping screws.
2. Light Attachment (If Applicable)
Scott Aerator light kits attach easily to the float platform and include:
- (2) or (4) LED light fixtures with power cable
- 1/2" bolts and nuts
- (2) or (4) stainless steel arm brackets
- Timer/control unit
- Remote control (only with color-changing lights)
Tools Needed: Wrench & Pliers
Important: The timer/control unit is necessary for light operation. Do not disconnect the cord from the control unit, as this voids the warranty.
Assembly Steps:
- Attach each arm assembly to the water feature, making sure the arms are oriented with “L” facing upward. Remove one of the bolts securing the float and line up the holes with the stainless steel arm. Reinsert the bolt with washer through the housing, float, and arm, securing with washer and nut. Repeat for the other arms.
- Attach each light to the stainless steel arms, securing with bolts and nuts. Adjust the lights along the arm as needed.
- Connect the lights to the Timer Control Unit by lining up pins and securing the connector with a half turn. Avoid over-tightening to prevent damage.
3. Water Placement
- Once assembled, the unit is ready for placement in the water for final adjustments and anchoring.
- Handle the fountain carefully to avoid putting weight on the stainless steel filter.
- Once the fountain head is submerged, secure it in place (not for DA-20).
- Float the fountain to the desired spot and secure the nylon ropes to the shore or use two submerged concrete blocks spaced at least 20 feet apart.
- Finally, connect the fountain and lights to the power source. Always use a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and consult a licensed electrician for installation.
Choosing Your Fountain
Selecting Horsepower
- Horsepower determines the size and flow rate of the fountain's spray. More horsepower moves more water, creating a larger or thicker spray.
- Choosing horsepower depends on your budget and pond size. Ensure at least 10 feet of space between the fountain spray and the pond's edge.
Selecting Voltage
- If you are unsure, please contact us.
- If using 115V power, consider the maximum distances from the pump to the breaker (including power cord length).
- For 230V, distance is generally not an issue.

3/4 HP 115V |

Selecting LED Lights (Optional)
- Purchase with the fountain or add later. Light sets attach easily to the float.
- Lights operate on 110V and come with their own power cord.
- Options include single-color warm white LED lights or color-changing LED lights.
- Both options include a programmable timer, with color-changing lights featuring a remote control that works up to 1,000 feet away.
- 2-light sets are suggested for 1 HP and smaller fountains.
- 3-light sets are suggested for 1.5 HP and 2 HP fountains.
- 4-light sets are suggested for 3 HP fountains.
Selecting Timers (Optional)
- Purchase with the fountain or add later.
- Timers control the fountain only, not the lights.
- Note: The 230V residential timer is plastic, the commercial version is metal. Both work the same.
Additional Nozzles (Optional)
- Scott Aerator fountain pumps work with all Scott Aerator nozzles.
- Choose from 9 different nozzles for various spray patterns.
- Note: Not all nozzles are available for every motor size. Check compatibility with the corresponding horsepower.

Common Questions
Fountains
Q: How do I pick the right fountain?
A: This is a common question. Start by deciding if you need aeration, aesthetics, or both. If aeration is key, consider our Aerating Fountains, which move more water than aesthetic fountains. Make sure your pond meets the minimum depth and the spray size fits your pond. Display dimensions are on each product page.
Note: Fountains are good for aerating water up to about 6 feet deep.
Q: What horsepower should I get for my fountain?
A: Horsepower indicates motor size, which affects spray pattern size. Ensure your pond is deep enough and the spray won't go beyond the edges. Our fountains work best for ponds a quarter acre or larger, depending on shape. Consider your budget and desired spray size when choosing.
Q: Do I need to hire someone to install my fountain?
A: A licensed electrician should install the power source if one isn't there. Our fountains are easy to install once the power source is ready. Many customers install their own fountains to save money, but consider your resources and comfort level.
Q: Which voltage is better: 110-120V or 210-240V?
A: 210-240V is usually better if the power source is over 70 feet from the main breaker. Ensure your power source can handle the higher voltage for continuous fountain use. Choosing a lower voltage might mean the fountain runs on and off or doesn't get enough power if the pond is too far from the main breaker. Please contact us with questions.
Q: Are lights included with the fountain?
A: No, lights are not standard. You can order them with your fountain or later. Attaching them to the floating unit is simple and a good addition.
Q: What affects the power cord cost?
A: Material costs are a big factor. Various power cords are available, from 14-gauge copper or stainless steel wire to 4-gauge options, depending on fountain size and cord length needed.
Q: Can I leave my fountain in the water during winter?
A: Scott Aerator Fountains are built for year-round use. You can run them continuously or turn them off in winter. They can be started again once the ice melts.
Aerators
Q: Can aeration help fish health and pond clarity?
A: Yes, absolutely. Aeration is the first step to improving pond water quality.
Q: How do I pick the right aerator?
A: Your pond's size and depth will help you choose. Our Surface Aerators and Aerating Fountains work for ponds less than six feet deep, while Sub-Surface aerators are suggested for deeper ponds.
Q: How do I install my aerator?
A: Consult a licensed electrician if a power source isn't installed yet. Our aerators are designed for simple installation once the power source is ready. Many customers install the equipment themselves to save money, but consider your resources.
